Acrylic Woven Carpet
Acrylic is a synthetic fibre that can closely replicate the appearance and feel of wool. It offers good resistance to mould and excellent resistance to sunlight.
Compared with polypropylene and polyester, acrylic has a greater affinity for moisture. Its excellent dyeability allows it to achieve rich colours and a visual character similar to wool, which holds an important place in traditional Turkish carpet culture.
In Türkiye, the entire production process—from fibre and yarn manufacturing to the finished carpet—is supported by domestic industrial facilities. The wide availability and cost-effectiveness of acrylic raw materials have therefore made acrylic fibre a popular choice among manufacturers of machine-made carpets, area rugs, and mosque carpets.
Acrylic also offers better colour retention than polypropylene.
